Just Shred and Spread For a Beautiful Yard
Transform your yard into a showplace, without all the sweat and strain. With the help of its extra-large, 21-inch-diameter funnel, the Leaf-Eater effortlessly reduces wet or dry yard waste--including leaves and grass clippings--into nutrient-rich mulch or compost that you can reuse right in your flowerbeds or vegetable garden. With this efficient tool, creating a great yard is as simple as shredding and spreading!

Two-Step Process Shreds and Mulches
This system utilizes a two-step process that shreds and then mulches for fast cleanup and maximum waste reduction. Just feed double handfuls of material into the hopper and watch the Leaf-Eater do all the work.

Patented Design and Powerful Motor Shred Leaves Fast
Thanks to its patented design, double heavy-duty cutting lines, and powerful universal motor with circuit breaker and reset button for overload protection, the Leaf-Shredder shreds wet or dry leaves, grass clippings, pine needles, and even paper as fast as you can load them.

Range of Shredding Adjustments for Flexibility
This flexible shredder offers the convenience of a range of shredding adjustments from coarse to fine--up to 30:1 particle size-reduction. It also includes a sliding control lever that’s easy to read, so you can choose the right setting for the job.

Lightweight Design for Easy Portability
Lightweight at just 16 pounds, the Leaf-Eater features a rugged, high-density polyethylene funnel and housing, as well as steel legs for long life and easy maintenance. Its lightweight design also means you can mount it atop a trash container that has a leaf bag inside for quick and convenient disposal.

Quick and Easy Assembly Right Out of the Box
Out of the box, the Leaf-Eater is a snap to put together in minutes; you'll only need a 3/8-inch nut driver and Phillips-head screwdriver. Maintenance is equally effortless thanks to the removable motor intake filter--just remove and clean periodically.

Dimensions and Warranty Information
The LE-800 Leaf-Eater comes with 36 heavy-duty cutting lines, legs, and a limited one-year warranty.

3Okay product  Dec 14, 2009
This product took probably 20 minutes to assemble. I would rate the product just "okay." It is underpowered and makes LOTS of dust. Dry leaves had to be shredded twice: once on "coarse" and the second time on "fine." It is a space saver and reduces lots of bags of leaves to a few...that's a great plus. Also, the finely shredded leaves make a great mulch.

5Great product.  Dec 03, 2009
Very satisfied customer. The Flowtron Leaf Shredder works very easily & efficiently and a pleasure to use. We mulched all our yard leaves (we have quite a bit) and mixed in with our vegetable garden soil. From purchase to shipment to receiving was very fast we would use amazon again for future purchases first.

4Great buy  Dec 01, 2009
The leaf shredder has done a great job of grinding leaves fine enough to break down well in my compost pile; much finer than my mulcher mower could ever do. We used in on my neighbors leaves and reduced the number of lawn waste bags drastically.

4Good machine  Nov 28, 2009
Overall, this machine seems to work well. I have a modest yard in a suburban setting with two large trees: a Honey Locust with small leaves on fronds and a Sugar Maple tree with larger leaves. There are also a few leafs from the neighbors and from our Lilac bushes. The reason I purchased the Leaf-Eater was to reduce these leaves for composting. Prior to this the leaf piles overwhelmed our compost pile and I had to use other spaces. Using the Leaf-eater, the volume of the leaves was reduced significantly by first running on the coarse setting and then the fine setting as others have indicated (though maybe not as much as advertised) - a rough estimate of about 80% for the oak leaves and other larger leaves and 60% for the Honey Locust. As people have noted, it is very noisy and there is a lot of dust, so hearing, eye, and breathing protection are a must - I also had to wash all my clothes after using it. I was able to work at a comfortable pace and mostly avoid bogging it down. The machine bogged a bit as the cutting strings became reduced in length and I had to bounce the unit a little until I changed the strings (which was quick). I set up the machine with the brackets to mount on a garbage can and cleaned the air filter after each wheel-barrow load as others have indicated. So far, I have only put about 8 or so loads through it due to time and weather issues - but so-far, so-good. TWIGS and STICKS - The twigs were processed, but the little bit bigger branches that got past me ended up being thrown to the outer circumference where I removed them when I shut it down - and they did shorten the life of the strings, but otherwise not a big deal. ASSEMBLY - very straight forward and I did it without an assistant - though I am very mechanical. DESIGN SUGGESTION - would be nice if the filter was higher and extended further so it would clear the garbage can. I would recommend this where a commercial machine is not needed.

5It eats the leaves with gusto  May 06, 2009
I was sceptical at first, and it was a little awkward to put it together, but maybe I am a klutz... But when I used the Leaf Eater for the first time I was instantly happy. We have 5 huge maple trees on the side of our house, and the piles of leaves each fall are always overwhelming. I put the leaf eater directly over a big garbage can and within the shortest time the can was full of chopped leaves that meanwhile have become the best compost. The concept is very simple - I call it a 'glorified weed eater', it is light weight and easy to handle. Worth its price!
